Traveling through the expansive Mexican skies on the fateful day of May 3rd, 1975, pilot Carlos De Los Santos embarked on a routine journey from a serene Seaport town on the Pacific coast to the bustling Mexico City.
Little did he anticipate that this flight would etch his name in the chronicles of aviation, igniting a saga of extraordinary events high above the earthly realm.
Cruising at 10,000 feet with clear skies and impeccable visibility, De Los Santos found himself amidst a peculiar scenario. An hour into his flight, an unusual grey, wingless object caught his attention, looming on the left side of his Piper pa-24 Comanche aircraft.
This unusual sighting marked the inception of a chain of inexplicable occurrences that defied all rational explanation.
Amidst the awe, he witnessed a small flying saucer with a bizarre presence hovering above his left wing as he approached Mexico City. While his aircraft dwarfed the saucer in size, its enigmatic aura was undeniable.
Adding to the surreal scenario, he spotted yet another saucer to his right, and as he gazed ahead, a third saucer appeared, heading straight towards him.
A wave of fear washed over him as he witnessed the saucer beneath his aircraft, experiencing a sudden jolt that resonated through the plane. Panic took hold as he realized his aircraft was no longer under his command.
The yoke moved independently, and the plane ascended to 3,000 meters, dangerously close to its operational ceiling. Any further ascent risked a stall, leading to a catastrophic loss of control.
Continuing its ascent, De Los Santos grappled with the acknowledgment that an imperceptible force, seemingly emanating from the UFOs, had assumed control of his aircraft. His attempts to regain authority proved futile.
In a frantic flurry of distress calls, he reported the presence of unidentified objects at his wingtips and below, hurtling towards mountainous terrain.
Unexpectedly, the three unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) veered off towards the Pobakatta Pedal Volcano at incredible speeds, releasing his aircraft from their grasp. Though he managed to regain control, the ordeal was far from over; the impact had rendered his landing gear nonfunctional.
Exhibiting extraordinary valor and ingenuity, De Los Santos circled the airport ten times, utilizing a screwdriver to manually deploy the landing gear. His triumphant landing bordered on the miraculous.
However, the narrative took a captivating turn. Were it not for the corroborative testimony of Mexican Air Traffic Control, who had also monitored these perplexing objects, the pilot’s reputation and career could have faced ruin. While the story made waves in Mexico, it remained relatively obscure in the United States.
But the intrigue didn’t conclude with the successful landing. Years later, De Los Santos disclosed being approached twice by enigmatic figures, commonly known as the “men in black,” who sternly cautioned him to maintain silence about his extraordinary encounter.
These clandestine encounters occurred just prior to scheduled interviews with Mexican television stations and the esteemed UFO investigator, J. Alan Heineck.
Despite the intimidations, De Los Santos eventually shared his incredible account, solidifying it as one of the most gripping aviation UAP incidents documented. His survival serves as a testament to the enigmatic mysteries that occasionally breach our mundane lives, challenging our comprehension of the universe beyond our atmosphere.

Although Carlos De Los Santos emerged unscathed from the encounter, similar events between civilian aircraft and inexplicable phenomena have resulted in tragic outcomes, including injuries, accidents, and loss of life. The skies harbor mysteries that persist in evading our understanding, beckoning us to contemplate the uncharted expanses that lie far beyond our grasp.
